First Focus

First Focus is committed to a comprehensive approach to early childhood policy recognizing both the diverse needs of our youngest children and the critical importance of ensuring those needs are met early in children’s lives. In the first years of life, children and families often interact with a patchwork system of providers addressing children’s health, nutritional, developmental, and educational needs. The providers of these critical services are often overseen by different agencies and financed through separate streams making it challenging to implement a coordinated, comprehensive system of care. At the federal level, First Focus works to ensure that policy decisions empower and incentivize states and localities to look across systems, blend funding streams, and coordinate services to develop and implement comprehensive early care and education systems serving disadvantaged children and families.
