Health Disparities

Access to quality healthcare is a right deserved by all children, regardless of race, ethnicity, or immigration status. First Focus seeks to put our nation on the critical path toward reducing and eliminating racial and ethnic disparities in children’s healthcare. These disparities in access, care, coverage, and treatment are simply unacceptable. To eliminate them, we must build upon the success of Medicaid and the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP), which serve a disproportionate number of minority children. These programs have a track record of success in reducing health disparities by providing access to high quality, comprehensive, and culturally competent care with low out-of-pocket costs, and access to language services.
