First Focus

First Focus believes that health care coverage should address the comprehensive needs of children. This means caring for a child’s mental well-being as well as their physical health. First Focus supports Mental Health Parity, which ensures that coverage of mental health or substance abuse services in states’ Medicaid and Children’s Health Insurance Programs (CHIP) must have the same financial requirements and treatment limitations as those for medical and surgical benefits. In essence, First Focus believes that children with mental health issues should be given the same quality of care at the same cost as those with physical health issues.
