First Focus

As strategies to measure and combat poverty become more refined, local areas, states, and regions within the U.S. have built upon international work that concentrates existing resources into defined poverty reduction targets. During his 2008 Presidential campaign, President Obama pledged to end child hunger by 2015 and expressed a commitment to cutting U.S. poverty in half in 10 years. First Focus supports efforts to develop a national poverty reduction target, linking it to outcomes for existing low-income assistance programs.
